The Cardiff Series
Soon to be displayed in Cardiff's Tiny Rebel 29th December 2024, this series celebrates the capital's famous landmarks.
This body of work has pushed James' skills to the limit, venturing into the world of landscape art, combining his signature splashes and heavy texture.
A series that James is truly proud of, having finally been able to represent and show off his home town in a deep world of colour.
Cardiff Nights
An ariel view of Cardiff's city centre, sculpted with textured paste for a raised, 3D effect. Splashes of acrylic paint elude to the street lights and sleepless activity of the capital's social hub.
Tiger Bay
Cardiff Bay, home of the Millennium Centre, raised in textured paste and finished off in acrylic and spray paint to bring this wintery landscape the feeling of the hustle and bustle of another unforgettable Cardiff evening.
Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau
Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, Welsh for 'Land of my Fathers'. The famous opening line of the Welsh National Anthem, which the fans of the Welsh National rugby team sing in chorus so beautifully every home game here, at the Primcipality Stadium - formerly Millenium Stadium.
Created with texture paste to raise the fans at the front of the frame and give the definition of the stands around the stadium. The distant fans represented with splashes of acrylic.
Castell Caerdydd
Cardiff Castle as seen from inside the great walls. The grounds littered with the Welsh national flower, the daffodil.
Created with mainly acrylic paint, and a touch of texture paste to give the front flowers that added sense of depth.
Terra Nova
The Scott Memorial, otherwise known as the lighthouse, in Roath Lake.
Captain Scott commanded the ship called Terra Nova on an expedition to find the South Pole. Sadly, they didn't return. The ship can be seen on top of this memorial in his name. Roath lake is truly a wonderful location, and definitely an area of Cardiff that will hold special memories for many.
Created with acrylic and texture on stretched canvas.
